Residential Apartment with Avant-Garde Design

The Sparkling Bali residential apartment, designed by Lo Fang Ming, is a stunning example of avant-garde design that combines futuristic elements with the charm of a traditional old mansion. Starting with the maintenance of the building structure and basic engineering, the designer pushed the limits of building space to create a truly unique living experience.

The realization of Sparkling Bali involved careful consideration of the existing conditions of the building. The low height and dark interior posed challenges that needed to be overcome. To address these issues, the designer reconstructed parts of the building and plumbing, removing the top floor ceiling to bring in natural light through the glass staircase patio. This allows the light to flow along the transparent glass stairs, illuminating the bedrooms on the second floor and the steps on the first floor. The steps of the staircase have also been cleverly converted into a wine cellar, combining functionality with aesthetic appeal.

In addition to the innovative use of space, the design of Sparkling Bali also focuses on creating a sense of openness and flow. The original entryway corridor, which was narrow and long, has been transformed with the use of a shoe stool, short ark, and mirrors to alleviate the feeling of confinement. The water-corrugated stainless steel surrounding the sofa area adds a touch of elegance and implies a transformation of field properties.
